Jennifer and Hazel Wrigley would once again like to announce two special Hogmanay concerts to be held at The Reel, Broad St, Kirkwall.

Their appearance has become a favourite regular event in the local festive calendar and is a cracking way to spend the last day of the year. If you’ve never seen the Wrigley Sisters before you are in for a treat. Their fun and humour coupled with fantastic traditional musicianship on guitar, fiddle and piano makes a great family concert for all ages.

The first show is aimed at those folk looking to do something late afternoon and starts at 5pm (doors 4.30pm). The second show is in the evening and starts at 8pm (doors 7.30pm).

Both concerts will take approximately 1 hour 30 mins - so still lots of time left to get ready for the bells.

Tickets cost £15 and are available here online,

at The Reel, 6 Broad Street,Kirkwall,

by phoning 01856871000

and also on the door on the night.

Jennifer said “We love this special time of year and couldn’t see the New Year in without a concert in Orkney.” Hazel added “Where better to hold a Hogmanay concert than Broad Street where the atmosphere is very special at this time of year. We are hoping for another great evening!”

“The best folk music is born of tradition but enlivened and invigorated by new ideas. Jennifer and Hazel fit that bill perfectly….Jennifer’s rich expressive tone and elegantly soaring arcs of notes are imaginatively harmonized and rhythmically underpinned by Hazel’s simple but strong piano playing and percussive jazzy guitar work.” SOUTH CHINA MORNING POST
